The Kahn Lab studies how the brain supports complex planning and decision-making.

We investigate behavior and neural mechanisms of complex planning. We focus on predictive models of the world, e.g. models that allow people to predict the long-term consequences of their actions.

We study planning algorithms in humans and other animals, using a combination of behavioral experiments, neuroimaging, and computational modeling. Our work draws heavily on reinforcement learning, network science, and control theory, and often focuses on modeling trial-by-trial learning behavior via reaction times and decisions.
